Approach
Prior to your first acupuncture appointment I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation.
At your first appointment we will discuss your health, lifestyle, expectations and any concerns that you may have. The location and/or the acupuncture channels linked to the presenting issue may be examined – (it is recommended that you wear loose clothing).
From these findings a diagnosis and a treatment plan are discussed. Treatment can include the use of very fine needles, massage, cupping or Moxa (dried Mugwort, which is used to warm areas). These techniques are used to stimulate “points”. This procedure usually takes place with the patient lying down, although can be carried out seated if required. Needles are retained in place for about 20 minutes, during which time you can relax- many fall asleep. Upon completion we will discuss any further treatment that may be required.
At follow-up appointments, we discuss any changes that you have noticed since your last visit to further refine your prescription prior to treatment.
Initial appointments are up to 90 minutes. Follow-up appointments up to 60 minutes.
Alongside traditional Chinese Acupuncture treatment protocols, I also offer Toyohari which is a Japanese form of Acupuncture using non-inserted and specialised needle techniques, unique to this style. The treatment is very gentle and non-invasive. Since the treatment is pain free, it is particularly suited to children as well as anyone who is wary of needles.
Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (FEA)
(FEA) focuses treatment to the face, it also looks to support the body as a whole. Prior to your first FEA you will require an initial appointment and diagnostic process as outlined above.
At the consultation we discuss which areas you would like to address, then you are free to relax. Treatment begins accessing points on the lower legs and arms to support your constitution before those in the areas discussed. Once the needles are removed a facial massage with Jade and/or gentle cupping completes the treatment. FEA appointments are up to 90 minutes. You should remove all make-up prior to FEA. Treatment of underlying health issues may be advised before your first FEA.
Massage
I offer holistic, as well as sports and remedial massage. So whether you wish to treat yourself, boost performance with pre- and post event work, help with rehabilitation, or just to get rid of aches and pains, I can offer help.
Poor posture, repetitive strain and lifestyle choices all take a toll on our bodies. Injuries are often the product of months or years of mis-use rather than “an afternoon of gardening”.
Massage works on muscles, tendons and fascia which in turn influence the nervous system. This stimulation can increase circulation, alleviate muscular tension and promote relaxation.
At your first appointment we will discuss your health and any concerns you may have. A full body treatment is recommended to assess how the body is functioning structurally - the place that hurts is not always the source of the problem! Subsequent treatments can be tailored to concentrate on areas that need more attention, such as back, neck, shoulders, legs or jaw.
